In view of improving instruction, a demonstration
lesson on Shared Reading was conducted at the Primary
Section early this January.
Ms Mercy Manato, the Primary 5 teacher and the AHOD of
the English Department read and discussed the big book
entitled 'Big Red Tomatoes' with a class of Primary
Two pupils. She had shown how with proper guidance
and probing, younger pupils can answer inferential and
analytical questions, thus developing critical
thinking at an early age.
The children enthusiastically read and talked about
the book that centered on the growth of tomatoes and
the varied ways they could be used in our the dishes.
Likewise the teachers enjoyed observing the pupils
engaged in the activities and decided to use the same
teaching strategy in their lessons.
